The rates we charge very much depend on the work you require, the current state of the manuscript and the time span you require us to work in. All these factors mean it is very hard to quote general figures and we have to assess each case on its own merits.

However, for basic proofreading where you have a fairly finished product that requires a thorough read through and error correction our rate would be £7 per thousand words.

Where you require more editing, where the text needs more extended correction, we would charge £14 per thousand words.

Where there is more extended editing necessary our rate would be £18 to £22 per thousand words.  In addition to correcting errors we would also draw your attention to areas of the text that are unclear and make suggestions as to how the text could be improved. This level of editing is particularly appropriate in cases where the text has been written by someone who is not a native speaker of English.

Alternatively we could agree a per hourly rate in which case we would charge £16 per hour for proofreading,  £18 per hour for basic editing and £24 per hour for extended editing. Please note that if we accept work as basic editing, but then discover that it requires more extensive work, then we will charge the higher rate.
